What is genetic predisposition?

Genetic predisposition or genetic susceptibility is the probability of developing a pathology based on the presence of one or more genetic variations that increase the risk of developing the disease.

With the analysis of variations in the DNA sequence, which occur at the level of a single nucleotide, known as SNPs (Single Nucleotide Polymorphism) and following a mathematical multiplicative model, it is possible to estimate the risk that a particular individual has of developing a disease, considering the incidence of the pathology and the allele frequencies of the variants in the population.

In summary, the genetic predisposition is the increase, through the inherited genes, of presenting a disease during our life.
