Desipramine (Dosage)

Desipramine belongs to a class of medications called tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs). It acts by raising the concentrations of certain natural substances in the brain that are necessary for mental balance.

The most common side effects of taking desipramine are nausea, drowsiness, weakness or tiredness, nightmares, dry mouth, sun sensitivity, changes in appetite or weight, constipation, urinating difficulty or frequent urination and changes in sexual desire or ability. Less commonly, the following adverse effects may occur: muscle spasms in the jaw, neck, and back, slow or difficult speech, shaking or uncontrollable movement of any part of the body, fever, severe rash, yellowing of the skin or eyes, seizures and sore throat, fever and other signs of infection.
